As a former staffer at Kiss magazine, I can tell you that writing the flowcharts was the best bit.
Working for a teen magazine (aka every '00s girl's dream) was every bit as awesome as you'd imagine.
In a time before smartphones, teen mags provided accurate, unbiased, non-cringeworthy information about sex, periods, and what was *normal* about the teenage body. And they were packed full of amazing celeb goss too.

There was a fashion closet, but we didn't get to keep the clothes after they were shot.
We spent hours looking through them and dreaming, though.

But we were allowed to raid the beauty cupboard.
We did get to keep the make-up, perfume, skin-care products, hair appliances, shower gel, body oil, and fake tan.
Destroying a gorgeous Chanel palette in order to swatch it was genuinely heartbreaking.
Teen mags needed lots of artful swooshes of broken-up products to jazz up the beauty pages. And destroying the make-up was devastating.
