Carrie Bickmore gave a touching speech after winning the Gold Logie, pulling on a beanie to raise awareness for brain cancer, after her husband Greg lost his battle to the disease in 2010.
"He was a great dad, he was a great husband, he was a great brother and he was a great friend, but he shouldn’t have had to go through that, no one should have to go through that. And that’s why I want to raise awareness about it tonight."

The launch of "Project Pouch" for the kangaroos, possums and wallabies who were injured in the bushfires...
In January, The International Fund for Animal Welfare launched "Project Pouch" an initiative to help injured kangaroos, possums and wallabies that were affected by injuries in the South Australian bushfires. The pouches acted as a mimic to the pouches of kangaroo mothers, as an environment for the injured babies to recover in.

...and the mittens for koalas also suffering.
After also being affected by bushfires earlier in the year, koalas were being given special mittens to to help with their burned paws.

Actor and Nashville star Clare Bowen gave a powerful reason for cutting off her long locks recently. Posting a photo of her new 'do on Facebook, Bowen explained the reasoning behind her decision. "I was really inspired when I heard a story about a little girl who said she couldn't be a princess because she didn't have long hair, and I wanted her, and others like her to know that's not what makes a princess, or a warrior, or a superhero." Bowen herself, fought cancer when she was a child.
